Risk Factors of Dry Mouth
Medications: Medication such
as beta-blockers, benzodiapines, tricyclid antidrepressants,
anticholinergics, antihistamines, atropinics, and antipsychotics
will decrease salivary flow creating the sensation of dry mouth.
Cancer treatment: Cancer
treatments such as Radiation therapy can damage the salivary glands
permanently. And the Chemotherapy treatment will not do much harm to
the salivary glands but can minimize the production of saliva,
creating the sensation of dry mouth.
Diseases: Sjogren's syndrome
is an autoimmune disorder which will create the dry mouth problems
and also the dry eyes.
Other conditions: Conditions
such as Bone marrow transplantation, Endocrine disorders,
Nutritional deficiencies, anxiety, mental stress, and depression may
cause a dry mouth.
